Accommodation Grading and Inspection: RAC, AA, ETC and Marquess schemes

National Grading Scheme

The English Tourism Council, AA and RAC now inspect hotel and guest accommodation to the same agreed rating system. The new ratings are your sign of quality assurance, giving you the confidence to book the accommodation that meets your requirements. More information from the Visit England web site.

The Marquess Scheme

The Marquess Scheme is a Lincolnshire Accommodation Grading Scheme with the following gradings:

Pass

Clean practical accommodation with cooked or continental breakfast. Adequate bath/shower rooms. All bedrooms with washbasins (some may have en-suite facilities]. Towels, fresh soap and heating should be included in the tariff. Establishments will have overall acceptable standards of cleanliness, customer service and quality as defined in this scheme.

Merit

As above plus: Well maintained premises with a co-ordinated standard of decor and furnishings. At least half of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. For the merit award there is greater emphasis on customer's needs and overall standards of comfort, service and quality.

Distinction

As above plus: A high standard of interior design and furnishings providing an excellent standard of comfort for guests. Most bedrooms with en-suite or private facilities. Separate guest lounge and dining room available. All the requirements at PASS and MERIT will have been met and expanded to provide a higher level of service, customer care and quality.
